چکیده

In this study, we investigated the chromosomes of three species Sicarius spiders from Brazilian Caatinga, using classical and molecular cytogenetic techniques. Based on phylogenetic approach, also discussed about variation diploid number, types sex chromosome system changes in localization ribosomal genes Scytodoidea. are Synspermiata that together with genera Loxosceles Hexophthalma constitute family Sicariidae. group, available data showed a low number range (2n♂=18 to 2n♂=23) presence only multiple systems (X1X2Y X1X20). Mitotic metaphase cells exhibited 2n♂=16+X1X2Y for cariri S. ornatus, 2n♂=18+XY tropicus. these species, silver impregnation revealed nucleolar organizer region (Ag-NOR) terminal pair 1. ornatus tropicus, results obtained fluorescent situ hybridization (FISH) 18S rDNA probe were similar Ag-NOR, however cariri, sites localized X1 chromosome. work, presented first description simple Sicariidae, helping understand how XY evolved X1X2Y system. Additionally, FISH incongruous Ag-NOR indicate studies Sicariidae allow investigating relation between karyotype evolution distribution activity genes. Key words: karyotype, mitosis, region, rDNA,

The six-eyed sand spiders of the genus Sicarius (Araneae: Haplogynae: Sicariidae) from the Brazilian Caatinga.

In this paper we revise the species of Sicarius (Araneae: Sicariidae) from the Brazilian Caatinga, the largest tropical dry forest nucleus in the world. We redescribe, designate a neotype and provide new records for Sicarius tropicus (Mello- Leitão, 1936), the only species previously known from the region, and describe three new species: S. cariri n. sp., S. diadorim n. sp. and S. ornatus n. sp...

Diversity of Tropical Spiders - Ground-dwelling Species of Brazilian Savannas

Spiders are one of the biggest and most diverse groups of arthropods. There are around 40000 described species of spiders, belonging to more than 100 families and 3600 genera. However, 170000 species of these arachnids are estimated to exist in the world, which reflects the scantiness of studies about this group. The distribution and diversity of spiders in macro and micro-scale in the tropics ...

Antifungal Potential of Plant Species from Brazilian Caatinga against Dermatophytes

Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex, or Trichophyton spp. are the main etiologic agents of dermatophytosis, whose treatment is limited by the high cost of antifungal treatments, their various side effects, and the emergence of resistance amongst these species. This study evaluated the in vitro antidermatophytic activity of 23 crude extracts from nine plant species of sem...
